A Kotter Editorial convida para o lançamento do livro “Mundo Mosaico: a estetização do mundo mosaico no Instagram”, de Manuela Salazar
O prefácio é da professora orientadora da autora da dissertação, pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação da Universidade Federal do Pernambuco (UFPE), Nina Velasco e Cruz. Confira um excerto:
“Um problema constante nas pesquisas em Comunicação que pretendem estudar os fenômenos do contemporâneo, especialmente tendo como objeto as redes sociais na internet, é a volatilidade com que esses se apresentam. Blogs, fotologs, Orkut, Flickr, Facebook, Youtube, Whatsapp, Snapchat, Instagram… Ao mesmo tempo em que impactam radicalmente as relações sociais mediadas em nossa sociedade, surgem e desaparecem com uma rapidez tal que coloca a obsolescência da crítica como um fato dado de antemão. No entanto, seria um engano pensar que essa tragédia anunciada seja suficiente para que renunciemos à tarefa de refletirmos sobre essas ferramentas (ou esses aparatos, para usar um termo flusseriano).
Nesse sentido, o presente livro nos traz um retrato e uma análise crítica de um desses fenômenos fugazes: o compartilhamento de imagens do cotidiano na plataforma Instagram. Mesmo que a plataforma esteja se mostrando razoavelmente consolidada, sem sinais de que vá desaparecer tão cedo, a presente pesquisa não se sustenta apenas por esse motivo. Não se trata, aqui, de descrever a especificidade do Instagram em sua configuração atual, mas sim de pensá-lo como sintoma de algumas características de nossa cultura contemporânea.
Foi por esse motivo que logo me interessei pelo projeto de dissertação de mestrado de Manuela Salazar, que se alinhava com a pesquisa que eu desenvolvia já há alguns anos sobre como o digital modifica a relação das imagens fotográficas com a memória.
Se a prática fotográfica vem se popularizando entre fotógrafos não profissionais há mais de um século, como anunciado pela Kodak em seu antológico slogan (“Você aperta o botão e nós fazemos o resto”), é evidente o aumento exponencial dos momentos considerados “fotografáveis” em nosso dia a dia. Na década de 1960, Bourdieu já se interessava pela “arte média” representada pela fotografia dos álbuns de família produzidos pelas classes assalariadas.
Passamos a perceber o mundo através do enquadramento da câmera, agora confundido com a própria tela que capta e armazena nosso olhar. Enxergamos beleza nos pequenos detalhes de nossa vida: na espuma de leite do café, nas folhas de outono caídas no chão, no pôr do sol no horizonte, na flor que abriu em nosso jardim… Como se não bastasse o fato de possuirmos em nossos milhares de registros imagéticos pessoais disponíveis a poucos toques de dedo, somos tomados por outra necessidade, essa sim mais típica do novo milênio: o compartilhamento de nossa sensibilidade. As redes sociais digitais passam a ser o lugar para a partilha desse sensível e milhares de imagens são compartilhadas por segundo, em um fluxo contínuo impossível de ser controlado. O Instagram, ao se anunciar inicialmente como uma plataforma exclusivamente de compartilhamento de imagens fotográficas (atualmente já recebe imagens em movimento), se torna um lugar privilegiado para se observar esse desejo contemporâneo.
É evidente que um objeto como o Instagram é inapreensível em sua totalidade. No entanto, há ‘algo’ que reconhecemos como uma ‘imagem estilo Instagram’. O que seria isso? O que torna uma cena ‘instagramável’? Por que somos impelidos a compartilhar certas imagens no Instagram e não outras?”
